How can I convert a .d64 disk image to a .d68 disk image?

I need to convert some old games.

Like " Pool of Radiance (USA) (Disk 1 Side A).D64 ", and other such ones.

May be imgtool (part of the MAME emulator, formerly of MESS) might be
able to do this. From the man page:

| DESCRIPTION
|
| imgtool is a tool for the maintenance and manipulation of disk and
| other types of images that MESS users need to deal with. Functions
| include retrieving and storing files and CRC checking and validation.
| Image files can also be within .zip files.

But the list of supported formats doesn't show "d64" or "Commodore". Just
CoCo, TI99, PC hard disks...

If you have Windows OS then you can use the program Dirmaster to open a
d64 and create/open a D81 disk and copy the files to the D81 image. If the
d64 has any type of copy protection the program might not load or run in
VICE.

There was Maverick V5.4 which had faster disk routines and the copying routines were faster, so you can make a disk copy (I cant remember what Maverick calls it) then see if Maverick has a parameter for it, then just run the parameter over the copy, but I think the proection is stil intact. If you have a snapshot cartridge that works the best, but I do know V-MAX scheme was smart enough to detect a snapshot cartridge, so if it has V-Max and then you copy the game, the copy will just crash, because the protection scheme (V-Max) is smart enough to detect youre making a copy. So make the snapshot cartridge invisible to the system, from its menu, boot the game normally, so when the game finishes loading, then do youre snaphot, then you just save the memory (for the game) to disk, that does not have the protection anymore, of course for youre own use for a backup copy. I know this years ago in Commodore World Magazine there was an article on snapshot cartridges, so I tried this and yes its true and it does work. I found V-MAX to my knowledge was the smartest toughest scheme to copy, again just for youre own backups of course. So these are just some suggestions anyway, I assume youre still using a real C64. Sorry for the book here but the snapshot works the best. Hope this helps.
